The smell of charcoal, food cooking over flame and some of Cornwall’s brilliant chefs getting stuck in right in front of you – fire is going to play a much bigger part in Truro Food Festival this year.
For 2026, we’re teaming up with Big Green Egg, who’ll be bringing their iconic ceramic EGGs to Lemon Quay for five days of live cooking.
And we’re looking forward to seeing what our chefs do with them.
Cooking over fire in the heart of Truro
There’s something about cooking over fire that suits a live festival kitchen.
You can hear it. Smell it. Feel the heat from it. And every chef approaches it slightly differently.
Big Green Eggs can be used to grill, roast, smoke, bake or cook low and slow, so throughout the festival our visiting chefs will have plenty of opportunity to put them to work.
Most importantly, it gives them another way to showcase the produce we have here in Cornwall – from meat and seafood to vegetables and everything in between.
Rather than simply watching a finished dish appear, we want you to be able to get close to the cooking, hear from the people behind it and pick up a few ideas along the way.
Part of a new-look Chef’s Theatre
Big Green Egg will also be part of something much bigger that we’re working on for 2026.
We’re completely reimagining our Chef’s Theatre this year, with a brand-new demonstration kitchen and a new home on Lemon Quay.
We’re keeping a few of those details under wraps for now, but the aim is simple: create a space that brings our chefs and audience closer together and gives everyone more opportunity to experience proper live cooking.
During the day, the EGGs will feature across our programme of chef demonstrations. Then, as the festival moves into the evening, they’ll also become part of selected Feast Nights – another brand-new addition for 2026.
We’ll have much more to share about those soon.
For now, a big thank you to the Big Green Egg team for getting behind the festival and helping us bring even more live fire cooking into the heart of Truro.
We’ll see you around the fire.
Truro Food Festival returns to Lemon Quay from Wednesday 23 to Sunday 27 September 2026.
